Behind the Pyramid of the Magician at Uxmal

Have you ever wondered why artists look for the hidden angles of famous landmarks? Usually, when we think of the Pyramid of the Magician at Uxmal, we picture that classic front view filled with crowds and tourists. This time, I wanted to try something different. I chose to paint it from behind to find a more peaceful and interesting composition for my brushes.
It was a fun challenge to capture the shapes of the old stone walls against the natural green of the trees. I used a mix of burnt sienna and yellow ochre to get that warm, aged look on the stonework. To make the trees stand out, I added touches of viridian green and cobalt green. These colours helped to create a nice contrast with the soft blue of the sky and the shadows on the ground.
