About Tim Wilmot
Hi, I am Tim Wilmot, a watercolor artist who has been practicing his craft since the age of 4! I have always been drawn to the beauty and fluidity of watercolor as a medium, and I love the way it can capture the light and color of the world around us.
My style is known for its loose, impressionistic quality, with bold brushstrokes and a focus on capturing the essence of the subjects rather than their exact likeness. I'm inspired by nature, particularly landscapes , but also street scenes, seascapes and harbour scenes catch my fancy!
Over the years, I have developed a loyal following on YouTube and of collectors who appreciate my unique style and the emotional connection the paintings evoke. My work has been exhibited in galleries across the country (UK), and I have won numerous awards for my paintings. I have also been featured in many well know watercolor publications like the 'Encyclopaedia of Watercolour Techniques', 'Watercolor Artist' and 'Art of Watercolor'.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I'm passionate about teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. I lead workshops and classes both online and in-person, and I am always eager to help my students develop their own artistic voice. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, I am dedicated to helping you develop your skills and find your own artistic voice.
One of my most popular teaching offerings is my Patreon Art Club, a membership-based online program that provides ongoing support and resources for artists at all levels. As a member of the Art Club, you'll gain access to a wide range of benefits and resources, including exclusive tutorials and demos, personalised feedback and critiques, a supportive community of fellow artists, and online meetups.
In my classes, I cover a wide range of topics, from basic watercolor techniques to more advanced concepts like values and composition. I provide detailed demonstrations and hands-on instruction, and encourage my students to experiment and take risks with their art.
One of the things that sets my teaching apart is my focus on individualised feedback and support. I like to think I take the time to get to know each of my students, and provide personalised feedback and guidance to help them grow and develop as artists.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, you can count on me to provide the support, guidance, and inspiration you need to achieve your watercolor goals!
"I love your art work. Your YouTube demo's are so eloquently taught. Probably the best I have seen here or on instagram..! Thank you." Kim B
"I wanted to thank you again for doing these watercolor painting workshops and for providing critiques. You are an amazing artist, and your workshops are forcing me to find the time to paint and I am so very appreciative of this" Brian, USA
"It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that you were one of the contributing factors to my painting more frequently and exhibiting more and having a bit more confidence this past year or two. I think you’re a wonderful tutor and I like the way you paint" Susan, USA
"Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Based on my experience watching your YouTube videos, your online workshop was everything I expected and more" Douglas B
"Thank you for all your great videos on watercolor painting. Your very loose method is difficult for me sometimes, and I cringe as I watch your brushstrokes go other than straight or parallel or stopping at the end of something - and yet, in the final result, it all reads as fresh, artistic, painterly, and a more colorful representations that captures the scene in the photograph, but much better. It amazes me. Your quiet voice (as most other painters' channels voices) is more like that of a golf commentator, respectful of the difficulty of a putt. I am learning to be a little more fresh, and less finicky in my own paintings. Thank you again." David B
