My interview on the Wet on Wet Podcast series

  1. I recently had a lovely chat with Sunil on the Wet on Wet podcast. It was a great chance to talk about my life in art and how I paint. We talked for about an hour about everything to do with watercolour. If you want to hear about my journey and my tips for painting, you can watch the video on YouTube.

During the interview, I talked about why I love the loose style of painting. I like to work fast with a big brush. This helps me capture the light and the feeling of a place without getting stuck in the tiny details. We also talked about how I choose what to paint. I often look for scenes with strong light and dark shapes.

I shared some of my top tips for people who are just starting out. One big tip is to use good paper. I always say that the paper is more important than the brushes. I also think it is good to keep your drawing simple before you start with the paint. This stops you from getting frustrated later on.

We also spoke about the colours I use. I like to keep my palette quite small. For example, I use a mix of blues and browns to make nice dark shadows. Using just a few colours helps to keep the painting looking clean. I find that if I have too many choices, it just makes things more difficult.

It was fun to share my thoughts on things like AI in art and how to stay motivated. I try to paint about four times a week to keep my skills sharp. I hope you enjoy listening to the interview as much as I enjoyed doing it. It is always nice to connect with other painters and talk about our favourite hobby.
