Painting the Chivay Market – My Live Demo for Patreon Members

Yesterday, I painted a lively scene from the Chivay Market during a live demo for my Patreon members. What a fun session! This market in the Andes is full of character, with colourful fruit stalls, busy figures, and that lovely mountain backdrop. I wanted to capture the light and atmosphere of this beautiful place.

In this painting, I used a mix of warm and cool tones to balance the sunshine and the shade. The deep blues and soft greys of the mountains contrast nicely with the warm reds and yellows in the market stalls and people’s clothing. I worked quickly to keep the loose and fresh feel that makes watercolour so enjoyable.

Thank you to everyone who joined me live. Your questions and comments make these demos so much better. If you missed it, the replay is now available on my Patreon page.
