'Red Mill' near Frankfurt

My painting of this lovely spot called the Red Mill which is near Frankfurt. It was a very peaceful scene with a small stream and some nice green fields. I really enjoyed how the light hit the grass on that day. The old building in the back adds a nice touch to the view and gives the eye somewhere to go.

For the sky I used some Cobalt Blue mixed with a bit of water to keep it light and soft. The bright green of the grass was made using some Spring Green and a little bit of Yellow Ochre. I think these colours work well together to show a sunny day in the countryside. It is always fun to play with different greens to see how they look.

The water in the front was the best part to paint for me. I used some dark Burnt Sienna and Neutral Tint to show the deep shadows under the bank. You can see the blue of the sky reflected in the middle of the stream too. I added a small person walking their dog to give the painting a bit of life and to show how big the trees are.
