River Avon at Malmesbury #2
Share
I recently painted this scene of the River Avon in the lovely town of Malmesbury. It is such a pretty place with lots of old buildings and a big church. The water was very calm on this day. I wanted to show the quiet feeling of the river bank.
For the sky and the water, I chose some bright blues like Cerulean Blue and Cobalt Blue. I like how these colours look together. To paint the buildings, I used a little bit of Yellow Ochre and Light Red. These colours help to show the warm stone of the houses in the distance.
The reflections in the water are my favourite part of this painting. I used some Lavender and Neutral Tint to make the darker shapes in the river. I also added some ripples with white paint for the highlights. It is important to keep the water looking soft and wet.
