River Rosara with Overhanging Branches

River Rosara with Overhanging Branches

I really enjoyed painting this scene of the River Rosara in Tuscany. It is such a peaceful spot with lots of trees and clear water. I wanted to show the light hitting the river on a warm day. The water has a lovely cool feel to it which I really like.

I used the overhanging branches at the top to frame the picture. This helps to lead your eye down into the middle of the river. For the leaves, I used spring green and viridian green to make them look bright and fresh. The dark areas under the trees were painted with a bit of neutral tint to give the painting some depth.

The boulders are very important in this painting. I placed some in the water and some on the bank to create a nice balance for the eye. I used cobalt green and cerulean blue for the water around the rocks. To make the rocks stand out, I added some white paint for the bright highlights where the sun hits them.

This original painting is for sale right now. Please contact me if you would like more information about buying it.
